LilZ,
the threads subject is "question regarding your practice of marriage by faith". Unfortunately sometimes (or often?) the "marriage by faith" IS a practice, and not obeying God, so someone would never know if it is Gods will or not, simply because he is not listening to the Holy Spirit. I've no bible right now here at my pc, but it says something like 'Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all things shall be added unto you.' So if you are truly allowing the Spirit to lead you and listening to His voice, so He can use you as a tool, then he indeed will care for you and give you all the things that are required to be a useful tool in His hands. And he will show you the right partner as well. But it works only if you lay aside all of your own will, and let God work in your life. Then you'll hear his voice. Trust me, I've seen it heaps of times, and there is such a big blessing on the family if they continue to walk in the way of the Lord. That's why there shouldn't be a way of "marriage by faith" but a life that is lived for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ from all our heart and mind. But as I said earlier, it seems often to be misused and people have to ask approx. 10 times till they get a "yes". I would say they tried their own ways... ...and sometimes it seems to work, but look at their children and on the blessing of the household, you can see a huge difference! Answer to your question: If you try to push away that soft and tender voice of the Holy Spirit or if you can't even hear it, you should work on your relationship to God first and pray for peace in this issue. If you don't have the peace and are driven by your own will or lust, then it's not Gods will. That doesn't mean you have to wait for a certain sign before you ask somebody. Quiet a few of those marriages where one thougth he received a "sign of God" ended up in a disaster. Important is the life after marriage, to stay in the way of the Lord, and he will richly bless! Is it that what you wanted to know? tom. |
