Matthew 6:19-21
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Has anyone every wondered what exactly we should "lay up"? Well, I was wondering that and I found these cool verses:
Luke 12:20-21
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
So then I thought, our riches must be God, or in God, but I didn't understand how I could "lay up" God. Keep reading...
2 Corinthians 4:6-7
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
The treasure is "the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ"!!!! The treasure that we "lay up" is our knowledge of Jesus Christ!! And the way to have knowledge of Him is by reading, understanding, and practicing His Word. We lay up treasure in heaven by getting God's word into our hearts and minds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<sorry for the !!!!!!!!!, I'm just excited!!!!!>
